United Farm Workers “March for the Governor’s Signature” on AB 2183

Close to 5,000 farm workers and supporters gathered at the Capitol in Sacramento on Friday, August 26, 2022 after a group of peregrinos (pilgrims) finished their 24-day, 335-mile march up the Central Valley in triple digit heat from Delano. The goal of the march was to push Governor Gavin Newsom to sign AB 2183, the United Farm Workers’ bill making it easier for farm workers to vote in a union free from intimidation by grower foremen, supervisors and farm labor contractors. California Alliance of Retired Americans (CARA) was there to support the marchers.
